The Anacortes Schools Foundation raised over $48,000 during their “Celebrate the Season” event last week, their first fund-raising effort.
The event’s co-chair, Vicki Stowe, said, “The outcome of this all means that we can fund our entire elementary school STEM menu, as well as begin to bring enrichment programs to our middle and high schools.” All proceeds from the event are earmarked for STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) enrichment programs in our school district.
Most of the proceeds came from the sold-out Dream It Dinner on Saturday night, with $13,000 donated during a raise-the-paddle portion and another $20,000 raised during the auction. The dinner was sold out, with more than 200 people seated. The committee had initially hoped for 180 people.
The Anacortes Schools Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization with 501(c)(3) status. ASF was established in 1984 and benefits students at all levels with college and vocational scholarships, early learning support and STEM enrichment opportunities.
