Mildred Arndt Memorial Art Scholarship
Scholarship established in memorial of Mildred Arndt by her husband.
Mildred (Parrish) and Art Arndt were married in Los Angeles in 1947. In 1955, the couple was transferred to Anacortes where Art helped open and run the chemical lab at the new Anacortes Shell refinery. Mildred was an accomplished artist; during the 1960s and 70s she was the co-owner of an art gallery in downtown Anacortes and enjoyed much success selling her paintings and custom jewelry. She is remembered fondly by her stepson, Anacortes resident Mike Arndt. Mildred passed away in 1986. This scholarship, in support of an Anacortes High School graduate with a passion for the arts, was established by Art Arndt shortly thereafter in memory of Mildred.
