The Anacortes Schools Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that grants scholarships and awards to students and graduates of the Anacortes school District. The Foundation was formed in 1984 to promote student achievement.
Scholarships are possible by endowments and gifts made to the Foundation. In 2016, more than $100,000 in scholarships was awarded by the Foundation.
Permanent charitable donations or ‘endowments’ are a means for donors to effectively support educational excellence in the School District and leave a lasting legacy in the community.
IMPACT K-3 Summer School
In Summer 2019, the Anacortes School District plans to launch Project Impact, a summer school program to provide targeted support for students entering kindergarten through third grade. IMPACT builds on the success of the Jump Start program – a three-week summer intensive launched five years ago to help entering kindergartners become ready for school. Jump Start will become part of IMPACT, with an expansion to third grade.
The ASF STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Committee was formed from parent volunteers who are fundraising to provide enrichment opportunities district-wide to our schools. The approach is to work with the school district in matching STEM curriculum with enrichment experiences such as in-class experts, experiments and field trips. This effort supports our both our teachers and insures that our students across the district receive the same extra experiences. We annually review with teachers and principals how effective these enrichments were for our students.
Early Learning Programs
Early Learning includes many individual programs as we recognize that every dollar spent on a local child before required schooling begins result in dramatic savings at every later stage of the child's life.
