Anacortes Middle School
For 19 years, the annual Ready to Learn Fair has served thousands of Anacortes students, Kindergarten to 12th grade, oveer the years. It is a labor of love for hundreds of volunteers, and comes together thanks to the incredible generosity of our entire community. In 2018, the one-day event served over 300 students, and once again put critical resources in the hands of our families who need assistance most.
The 2019 Ready to Learn Fair will once again be held at the Anacortes Middle School from 9am to noon on August 17. The Anacortes Schools Foundation is proud to partner with the Anacortes School District in support of this important event.
Each kid receives a new backpack full of supplies tailored to their specific year in school, Keiko McCracken, co-chair of the event, said.
Kids get to look through donated new or gently used clothing to take home with them. Each year volunteers collect clothing for the event.
Translators who speak Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Korean and Tagalog are available this year as a way to reach more people, McCracken said. She doesn’t want anyone deterred by a language barrier.
Financial donations are accepted...
Thanks to our incredible team of volunteers, and generous financial support from donors, last year’s Ready to Learn Fair fully met the back-to-school needs of our students. But our need continues to grow, and each year, the fair serves more and more students. That is why we are once again asking for support. We need to raise over $15,000 and hope that you will once again make a generous gift.
Donations should be made out to the Anacortes Schools Foundation, 2200 M Ave., Anacortes, WA 98221. It is important the donation be notated for the Ready to Learn Fair. As in the past, your donation may be tax deductible. The Anacortes Schools Foundation’s Federal Tax I.D. number is 91-1263495.
